BetterDog ("the App") is developed by Claudiu Cheles ("we", "us"). This policy explains how we handle your data.
BetterDog is designed to be privacy-first. All dog profiles, training sessions, vet records, photos, and app settings are stored entirely on your device.
If you choose to sign in and enable cloud backup, your data is:
Cloud backup is entirely optional. The app is fully functional without it.
BetterDog offers three sign-in methods:
Your display name and email address are used solely to authenticate your account for cloud backup. This information is handled entirely within Google Firebase — we do not store, transmit, or share it on any other server or with any third party.
The app may request permission to send local push notifications for training reminders, feeding schedules, and vet appointment alerts. These are scheduled entirely on your device and do not involve any external server.
BetterDog requests only the permissions needed for the features you choose to use:
Permissions are requested in context when you use the related feature, not on first launch. If you deny a permission, BetterDog will continue to work, but the related feature may be unavailable until you enable that permission in your device settings.
The app accesses your photo library only when you choose to add a profile picture for your dog or select a progress photo. If you take a new photo, BetterDog uses your device camera only for that action. Photos are stored locally and only uploaded if cloud backup is enabled.
We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or crash reporting services.
Use of BetterDog is subject to the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA).
You are in full control of your data at all times.
Open the app and follow these steps:
This permanently deletes your Firebase account, all cloud backups (encrypted dog profiles, training data, vet records, photos, settings), and any data stored in Firestore under your account. Local data on your device is also cleared.
Alternative — by email: Send a request to claudiu@betterclimber.app with the subject "BetterDog Account Deletion Request" and the email address used for sign-in. We will process your request within 7 business days.

BetterDog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
